It boggles my mind. What kinds of rationalizations have you heard from otherwise intelligent people about why they believe in god? Is it ignorance?... an intentional dismissive attitude to the obvious facts simply because they like the general idea of a religion?
Example: My father, with an IQ of 176, was an atheist until he married my christian mother... and later became Orthodox Christian because he became close friends with another dude who is as well.
It just seems so wrong.
