what makes a good scary movie?

BTW, i'm going to watch MISERY in black and white, as i done this for the end of attack of the clones ..... and most of exorcist 3 too

BYW just realised it was on NOW :(

Hearing the sounRAB of loud tapping and when they look there is nothing there, but the banging gets louder and louder and you don't know whats going to jump out, as they say its what you hear and don't see is what scares you even if you where sitting at home and heard footsteps from up stairs, you go to check it out and there is nothing there, I for one would freeze up!!
No warning music so you will not expect anything kinna like the ending to Carrie when her friend visits her grave to the sound of soft music then POW up comes the hand of carrie white

The basic ingredients for a good horror are suspense, ain engaging story and at least passable acting.

The real thing that sets the great horror from the dross is INNOVATION. The genre can easily get dull and repetative, but when people see sonthing new and fresh iot is exciting.

watched the shining again last night - very scary, and just downright creepy at times, despite not using too many effects or gore.

the last shot that
zooms in on that photo
is just brilliantly chilling.
