What MADE large businesses today successful like the new IPOS you see and large

companies? READ THEN ANSWER BUT READ FIRST PLEASE ;)

If you look at IPOS today you will see business that are big but at one time usually started small. How do people come up with ideas for big companies? One thing that I think that I have noticed is that most big companies actually don't think of a brilliant idea rather they are better in some way over their competition i.e. like Wal-Mart is cheaper in groceries etc. etc. I notice that a lot of these companies don't really have any brilliant ideas but they either give good service or prices etc. On the other hand while it might be an illusion a lot of these companies seem to be very complicated. What do people here think and what is the secret that rich people use to start a small business and make it into an empire?
 
the theory is this: any business must offer something not currently available in the marketplace. For many big businesses this is cheaper goods, for small ones it is a new idea or better service.

Finding these gaps in already present service isn't a logical process, its the sort of thing that you notice all of a sudden. For instance a friend of mine worked as a computer programmer making bar code reading instruments. He noticed that there were no machines that checked bar codes before the merchandise was shipped to the store. So he opened a company that made these machines; and did very well.

I do alot of investing and noticed that there were several tools that I could create that weren't already in existence so I am going about writing a business plan to turn these tools into a company.

Once you have a successful business growth just comes naturally. That growth will eventually turn you into an empire.
 
Read Sam Walton's autobiography "Made in America" and you will see how his concept of marketing developed from one Ben Franklin store into Walmart. You can find it on Amazon or at the library. Walmart isnt the same store today that Sam started. Their products arent made in America. But the company developed from one store with his marketing ideas.
