I own a Nikon D40x and photography has been my hobby for a little over half a year. Mainly, I want to have flashes to take portraits, but I also want something that I can use to take action photos because I am on the yearbook staff at my high school. I can't spend much money, so if you could recommend something on the cheaper side that would be nice.
Also, if I want to get flashes to be off camera, how do you trigger the flash and the camera at the same time??
I've also seen some results of people using ring flashes for portraits and I really like the effect. Should I buy a flash and get an adapter or make a "DIY" version??
