...payments on a TV that bought? In 2006, I purchased an HD TV on my Best Buy credit card because my boyfriend at the time had no credit and promised to make the monthly payments on the card. He made the payments and continued to do so even after we broke up. However, he stopped making payments after he moved out of state. He did assure me that he would get the money to me for months and months after he moved. Now that it's been about a year since he moved, he is completely ignoring me. I paid off the payments in full to protect my own credit when he stopped. I would like to know what type of legal action I can pursue. Can I take him to court for the TV, since he refused to make the payments and is ignoring me?
He has the TV.
Since I purchased the TV then, am I able to get the TV back?

Your only recourse would be to take him to small claims court. You can ask for either cash in hand or the TV in perfect cosmetic and working condition.

Sorry hon, but you're out of luck. The TV was on your credit not his so legally he's not required to pay anything unless you two had a written agreement. Bottom line is, a court would probably view the TV as a gift from you to him.

You really can't do anything to him, you purchased the TV on your credit card, he has no legal responsibility to repay it (as the contract will indicate on the BestBuy credit application). It's a learning process in life, you'll learn not to do something like that ever again....trust me on that one, I had to learn it and I'd wager 90% of the people out there have learned that lesson the hard way. It could've been much, much worse though, instead of a TV imagine if it was a car???
