What kinds of things can really stick to clothes without coming off easily?

I'm thinkin about makin a gift for my boyfriend for his bday and i want a piece of clothing personalized...
i thought about sewing something on but never really tried it
then i thought about sticking something but i dunno how to make something like rhinestones stick without coming off easily
