What kind of Wacom Tablet do I need?

Hello I'm getting into animation and I always find drawing on something far easier and better then using a mouse and keyboard. I'm currently using Flash CS4 and probably going to transfer to Toon Boom.

So I was curious to as of what type and size of Wacom Tablet would be the best for me.

My recommendation would be the 4" x 6" Wacom Intuos3 (although I hear they just released an Intuos 4 -- but getting a 3 for less money is probably still the best option). 4x6 may not seem like enough space, but keep in mind that you only need it to be large enough for your hand motions -- it doesn't necessarily have to be as big as the paper you are accustomed to drawing on. It differs from person to person, of course, but I find that you really don't need a big one. I've had a bigger one before, and I find that it just makes your hand get tired because it takes more time for it to cross the screen.

As you probably know, most people agree that Wacom is the best brand. They're pretty reliable and their pens don't require batteries, which is very cool.

Thanks. I think 4"x6" is enough for me, but I'll shell out the extra money for 6" x 8". I'm probably going to go with the Intuos2. Is there THAT big of a difference between them? Or does that only matter with those who are REALLY skilled with Tablets?

EDIT - The size monitor your computer is using doesn't matter right?

And now I've come to throw a wrench in what seems like a sure bet.

I had a Wacom until it uncalibrated itself; then it started making lines before my pen hit the pad, which made drawing impossible. I replaced it with a cheaper non-Wacom generic brand, and it's worked a lot better. The pad surface feels more like paper, and I like using batteries, because once the Wacom pen loses its charge, you have to buy a new one.

As for the monitor size, with a little adjusting most of them should be able to work with widescreen OR squarescreen.
