What kind of Toyota car should i buy?

I finally have a job, and i want to buy a car. I want to buy a prius, but people say it's a bad car since you have to replace a battery in the future.Is this true? Do you have suggestions? How about the scion xc? I don't want a rav4 or corolla since my family members already has them.
 
How about a Yaris? My wife gets something like 37 MPG. It's also the size of a Prius, more or less.
