What kind of Sucker fish was it?

It's April 18th 2009, a sunny warm day and there is a major spawning of a sucker type fish going on in the shallows of the Menomonee River in Menomonee Falls. The one I pulled out and released was about fifteen inches long with a pronounced horizontal white/yellowish stripe on the side.
It was light brown overall.
