I just recently joined the gym and am working with a trainer doing mostly core and leg strengthening. I work with my trainer twice a weak doing muscle strengthening and then about 3 times a week doing cardio (treadmill, stairmaster, eliptical, etc). I currently have a pair of Nike "walking" shoes, and I notice when I am doing some cardio, for instance jogging on the treadmill, or power walking on an incline, my ankles hurt very bad. Could this be due to the fact that I am wearing "walking" shoes? What type of athletic shoe should I buy? Running, cross training, etc?
