What kind of ritual uses writing on a naked human body, candles and chanting?

I was forced to participate in such a ritual and I'm wondering what it may of been for. It was very scary since I didn't know what was happening. But an image of an angry old woman suddenly came into my mind. I was so scared I screamed really loudly. The men writing on me held me down though and I wanted out of that room since I was uncomfortable and very scared. Please help me out since I am nervous that it may occur again.
 
It might help to know how you got into that situation or who the people were....

To be honest, "pictures of old women" in my mind would be the last thing I'd be worried about at that point.

Perhaps you were dozing in front of the TV while a horror movie was on?
