What kind of paint should I use on galvanized steel?

Is there a special kind of paint that will show up on galvanized steel really well, and not peel or chip off?
I'm not doing anything huge, like putting a bunch of coats onto a steel roof. I'm just painting a few words onto a small galvanized steel bucket. So I just need a small amount of paint that'll adhere to the surface of the bucket.
 
Spray paint will work ok. Maybe varnish will last longer than lacquer. You can place a stencil made with vinyl over the bucket and then spray it on. Have fun!
