What kind of motor oil should I use for my 1991 Dodge Ram 250 van?

My dad ran an oil change business (out of a Ram Van, no less!) where he came to you and did the oil change. Though his had the V6 (which I doubt yours does), he ran 10w30. Always served him well. Engine was strong for 200,000 miles, even with way too much weight on the chassis. For heavier pulling with a larger, V8 engine, you could run 10w40 with no problems, I'd say. My truck's owner's manual calls for 5w20, and I accidentally ran 5w30 one oil change. No problems. The difference in thickness is minimal.
