i'm writing a book. It's about an 18 year old senior in high school girl (Sean) who gets kidnapped by the mafia who is trying to take down this girls dad who is the head of another mafia. Sean doesn't know this about her dad though. So when the head of this mafia (Mac) who kidnaps her questions her about her dad she is totally in the dark about it. Mac falls for her and decides to keep her there. She tries to escape numerous times and doesn't fall for him back untill later on.
I was originally going to make them both at the height of their lives. you know, her cute, popular, hot boyfriend. Him good looking, head of the mafia, playboy. just in two different worlds. But now i'm kinda rethinking it. Should i not make Sean popular? Would it make it more interesting if i made her just average looking or a bit above average, and not popular? does the whole popular, good looking, lots of friends type person annoy people or turn them off making them not like the character that much? I was adding faults to her, but nothing seems to make her that much less cool, because of where she is in her life. What do you think?
