What kind of lawyer do I need to sue the police?

About 2 months ago, I had 2 cars and a motorcycle taken from my garage that was locked in Wisconsin. Me and my boyfriend were in Miami on a trip. They took them because my landlord told them there was a dead body in the garage. The landlord let them in door of the garage where they found NO dead body. The police ran the license plate on all the cars. Since none of them had been transferred over into our name. The police took all the cars and the motorcycle. When we got home from our trip, the police said that they were trying to find out if the cars were stolen. When they ran the vin number, it came back to no one. (Because we hadn't tranferred the plates on the cars.. that is why they were sitting locked up in a garage.) Its been 2 months and we have not heard anything from the police. What kind of lawyer do I need to sue the police and sue my landlord? Is there a way to get all of my cars back?
I do have everything in my name now. I got it all in my name the day after i came home. The cars are still not being turned back over to me. My question is what type of lawyer do I need?

No lawyer will be able to sue the police over this. They were within their right to search the property when they were given permission by the landlord.

Suing people isn't your biggest problem. Why would your whackjob landlord tell the police there was a dead body on the property? You need to be looking for a new crib. Is there something you aren't telling us? Do you at least have a bill of sale or a title (even an untransferred one) for the cars? If not, the police have every right to be suspicious that the cars are stolen and hold them until they figure out who they legally belong to. If they decide to keep the cars they will file a seizure/forfeiture case against you.

You're going to need another kind of attorney, because the police will not stop there and you will serve some jail time before this is done.

I bet the first step is to legally get the cars put them in your name. Until that happens the police will not give them back to you because you cannot demonstrate that you are the proper owner. It sounds like the police are right in holding onto the cars until you can prove you are the proper owner. You would be even more mad if some random person showed up and the police gave them the cars just because they said they belonged to them. You need to go to the DMV and do the paperwork, pay the fees, show the insurance, and get the titles transferred.
