What kind of illness did I get based on symptoms?

So, I just turned 21 and went out dancing at the clubs with my friends until 3 am. I didn't do ANYTHING sexual or needle sharing or drinking alcohol. Nothing. I just danced a TON and grinded with some guys but we all had full clothing on (meaning jeans and everything). The next day I hung out with friends again and went to a concert till 11 pm, got home at midnight. Then saturday I stayed home, and sunday I went to another event in the evening for 4 hours until 9:30 pm.

That night I got sick with sore throat, swollen sinuses in throat, and a cough that brought up greenish/yellowish mucus gunk. I woke up sweating and feeling chills in the middle of the night. My sore throat and cough lasted like 10 days and the doctor said it looked like a bacterial infection or something. I hadn't been sick for a year before that…

What was it ? Are those symptoms of a cold or flu or what? And how do you think I got it?

Quick onset is often an indicator of bacterial infection. Physical contact with people, or opening a bathroom door are great ways to gather germs. Coughing and sneezing projects droplets into the air. Your intense social activity and lack of appropriate rest weakened your defense mechanisms making you a great host for the germs to, so to speak ,take hold. Glad you are feeling better.
