What kind of fish should i get?

I have a 20 gallon tank and i have only 1 blue gourmi and he seems so lonely. I have tried to get another one but it just chased it around. So what kind of fish can i get that they would get along and be a nice happy tank. I have some plants and decorations so they have good hiding places i am looking for some kind of tetra. So please help me with my fish problem.
 
If you got a male gourami, or even a female, males become more aggressive as they mature, especially if it was his turf first, if you know what I mean.

I've kept gourami's along with guppies and other livebearers, as well as betta's before. They're really great community fish. I recommend the following:

*6 neon/rummy-nose/red eyed/glowlight/lemon tetras
*1 dwarf gourami
