What kind of fish are hearty and easily cared for?

We Have some goldfish in a 10 gallon tank with 2 snails, male and female betta and a suckerfish. The goldfish keep getting ick and dying.
I'm through with goldfish, any suggestions on what I should get that won't kick the bucket so easily???
 
They're probably getting sick because it's too small. Get a bigger tank or fewer fish in the one you have now.
Goldfish are very hardy if taken care of properly. Any fish you put in that tank your risking if you overpopulate.
