is trying to sue me? This company is trying to sue me for something that was already paid for. Their "big company" bought the contract from them. I was released from my contract with their "big company", because the company who is trying to sue me falsified a document stating I was the owner of the home. I provided the falsified document to this company's attorney, but they still want to go into litigation (and by the way they changed the charges too after I called them out of what they did not do...is this ethical?). So, this company is trying to sue me for something that is already closed. I need help with finding what type of civil lawyer would I need to look up.

Bear in mind that if you are the defendant, you are going to have to pay your own legal costs.

You *may* be able to counterclaim for them if you can show "malicious prosecution" - but that is a hard burden to meet. It requires that you be able to satisfy the judge that the plaintiff "could not" have believed that his case had any merit, and sued you regardless.

That said, any lawyer who handles contract disputes can defend you. If you have evidence that the service was already paid for, it shouldn't be an expensive issue to defend.
