What kind of carburetor can a FORD 400 take?

I have a 1972 Ford ltd and the carb needs to be replaced. Just curious can i use a carb from another engine like Chevy 305 350 etc...
 
They can work with adapter plates. Try Summit racing for the adapter plates.
But it is best to stay with the good old ford one, or an after market model.
Try to find one off of a Ford 460 for a little better breathing. You can find 2 barrel ones on some Ford trucks and 4 barrel ones out of other ford products (like Lincolns).
Just my thoughts.
