I just applied for a Photography college for March
I asked the website what kind of Camera I need but it said
it could be awhile to hear anything back from them

Has anyone taken a Photography course?
how was it?
as for cost im fully funded by my dad
cost is not an issue
it is a ten month course
so says the website
I took print making/Black and white Photography in Highscool I liked it but wasn't really for me
this course is about making your portfolio and website and learning photo editing
im looking to open a Studio when im finished in my home town [Since the one here sucks don't like the style]

You may not need a DSLR but one would be great for the class. You may be able to get away with a compact that has shutter and aperture priority, but the DSLR will allow you to have so much more control.

You can find used DSLRs on craigslist for $200-300. Or you can check B&H and Adorama in their used departments.

I am currently in a photography class and I really enjoy it. It is film based though so we are learning to process and print from our own film-my main reason for taking the class. I really like my instructor and that probably makes a huge difference.

There is no way to answer without knowing more about the class. Is it for college credit or for personal growth? Do you have to have a DSLR or is point and shoot OK? How long does the class last? How much can you spend - it's going to be your camera when the class is over so you want to get one you will like. Go to the library and look at digital camera article in July 2009 Consumers Reports. this will tell you which are rated as best by Consumer Reports.

Good luck. Join Yahoo Flickr when you start taking pictures - it will help you improve your pictures.
