...pre-loaded subwoofer enclosure? I bought my son the Rockford Fosgate Punch P3 P3L-2X12 pre-loaded subwoofer enclosure as a Christmas gift. I know he needs an amplifier, but I don't know anything about them. Here's the technical info on the subwoofer package:

Woofer Quantity: 2
Woofer Size: 12"
Woofer Series: Punch P3 P3D412
Woofer Impedance: 4-Ohms Wired in series/parallel internally to create a 4-Ohm amplifier load.
Power Handling: 1000 Watts RMS; 2000 Watts Max
System Configuration: Vented
Enclosure Material: 5/8" MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard)
Speaker Connector: 16 AWG to 12 AWG Compression Terminals
Dimensions: H 15.125" x W 33.875" x D 16.375"

The people at Rockford Fosgate told me to get their P1000-1BD amplifier and have the speakers inside the box re-wired to 1 ohm. The amp that they recommended is about $500 at Amazon. Do I have to buy the Fosgate's class bd amp? Are there cheaper amps from other brands that will be able to supply the 1000W RMS these speakers need and still sound good?
