What kind of a fish can live in a small fish bowl without a lot of maintenance?

I'm looking for a low maintenance fish that could survive being kept in a small bowl and cared for by kids. Definitely something that could survive if they forget for a day or two to feed the poor thing.

Putting fish in a bowl is just putting them in their deathbed.
You should be keeping your fish in a cycled and filtered tank, possibly heated if you are interested in getting a tropical fish.

For bowls, you will need to be doing a 100% water change twice a day, whereas in a tank, you should be only doing a 25% water change every week. You see how this is stressful, and can kill the fish.

No fish can live in a bowl, as there is such a tiny surface area for the oxygen to enter and circulate throughout the water, that there is really no point in keeping any living thing in a bowl, even if it is a snail, which is the only thing you CAN keep in a bowl.

Keeping any fish in a bowl causes it to be stunted in growth when older. People say that fish grow to the size of their tanks, when in fact this is untrue. They continue growing, except stop when they grow too big for their tank, because the size of the tank has stunted them, which means stopped their organs/bones to grow, which kills them.

It is our duty as fish keepers to keep our friends in the best possible conditions for their health and happiness.

Buy a Betta fish. These are lovely, very colourful fish, as well. You can get a 5 gallon tank with a filter, a heater, gravel, live plants, etc, for under $50 if you're lucky. But you need to cycle the tank first - read the article below on cycling tanks.

The best type of fish are small ones like goldfish, but you're not allowed to have fish in bowls anymore unless you have a filter. You can buy oxygenating tablets and lie that you have a filter, but it isn't really lawful.

nothing at all will work

thats just cruelty to animals

fish keeping is very scientific and not a good choice for kids to look after without vast amounts of knowledge

edit:
a goldfish will kill itself in its own waste and become stunted

a betta will jump out and will suffer major temperature fluctuations and will be very cramped.THEY RE CARNIVORES AND DONT EAT PLANT ROOTS

all fish are high maintenance if you want something low maintenance get a cat

edit: goldfish are not small fish

BETTAS!!! They are the best fish they don't take any maintance hardly. As a matter of fact my friend has one and they have a big water plant on top of the bowl the fish will eat the roots so you don't even have to remember to feed it. Even though we give her little snacks.
