What Kickers should I go with, Square 8" L5, or 12 "cvr?

The ZX1000.1 will be way too much power for 2 subs that are rated at 300W RMS if you plan to get the dual 2 ohm subs. If you get the dual 4 ohm subs, you can wire them to a 4 ohm load to the amp, but you'll lose a great deal of power.

3 - 8" L5's dual 4 ohm ran to a 2.67 ohm load would work really well if you can make 3 subs work somehow. Not sure if that's an option since you're installing them under the rear seat. But, just a thought.

Any way of getting a deal on a pair of 8" L7's? They're more suited to handle the power of a ZX1000.1.

I have an 06 Dodge Ram 2500 quad cab. I'd like to build a box to fit under the rear seat. I already have a pretty big amp (kicker zx1000.1), and had my mind set on (2) 12" cvrs. But now I've found a pair of 8" L5's for the same price. Space is limited under the rear seat, that's why I was leaning toward the 8" L5's. They're only rated for 300 watts rms, and I'll be pushing them with about 500 each. I know the 12" cvr's will handle the power, but they require a bigger box. I want a good hard beat from whichever I go with, but I'd like to have headache causing beat on demand.

I can get either pair in dual 2 ohm voice coils so they can be wired to let the amp work at 2 ohms. Is the zx1000.1 too much power for the 8's? I'm pretty stuck on these 2 speakers because of the incredible deal I'm getting.

My friend has a 05 quad, he's taking out the center console and putting 3 Boston G5's.

The space needed for the CVR's is
Sealed Box Volume1.0 - 4.6 cubic feet
Ported Box Volume1.75 - 2.25 cubic feet

The space needed for the L5 is
Sealed Box Volume 0.33-0.75 cubic feet
Ported Box Volume 0.66-1.0 cu. ft.

Since you're very limited on space, go with the L5's. you'll hit more of the lows because youre meeting the required volume needed for your subs.
If you're worried about blowing your 8"s don't get them in DVC 2 ohms, get them in DVC 4 ohms. You'll have a less chance of messing them up because they are receiving more power than rated. The DVC 2 ohms will be getting more power than if you get the DVC 4 ohms.

Good luck with that, I think that'll sound nice with them L5's though because it's all about the enlcosure and meeting its needs. Plus the L5 solobaric has the cone area of about a 10" sub.
