What Jeep Cherokee model should I get?

I heard that Cherokees are champs. I am particularly fond of the old square-edged models, not the new ones. So, my question, which model is classic, great-running and reliable?

Any help with the descriptions such as 4 cyl., 4x4 and stuff like that and personal recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
 
well all cherokees are square edged...unless you are grouping grand cherokees in with them as well...which is technically a different jeep line of suz..(they dont make cherokees anymore just the grand)... i have a 2005 jeep grand cherokee v6 but its only 2 wheel drive... if i got to do it all over again i would go for 4 wheel drive.... also my dad still has his 95 jeep cherokee 4.0 liter inline 6 and it was so fun to drive that medium sized 4,o liter in that light weight chassis would get up and go for a suv... plus that jeep has over 280,000 miles on it and it still runes pretty good.

love and will only buy jeeps...(as long as i can)

dude just build your own jeep, that way you make sure you get what want where you want it.
