...concern? For my Social Psychology class, I have to write a one-page paper answering this question: "What is your opinion on the rising number of hate groups in the U.S.? Should there be concern?" after reading this article here: http://www.maxwell.syr.edu/uploadedFiles… and I've read the article but so far, the only ideas I can think of that I have written for my essay are:
In my opinion of the rising number of hate groups in the United States, I believe that there is a concern and that the alarming number of hate crimes is closer than ever to the civil rights era. The United States was built on the foundation of all men created equal and the hate groups forming are a sign that the country is straying farther away from the first reason why it was formed. The rising number of hate groups is alarming in which they not only focus on traditional groups such as African Americans and Jews but there are also new groups that are forming that also focuses on gays and Hispanics. During the past fifty years, there had always been concerns about new hate groups growing rapidly and gaining power, however, those are just small incidents that are blown way out of proportion. Our globalize world would not allow such a massive hate terror group to rise up these days. Besides concerns about actual hate groups, I also think that there should be concern about special interest groups jumping on the “hate” bandwagon, tying themselves and their behavior in with real victims of hate. Since I’m a Catholic, I believe that hatred isn’t the opposite of love but the absence of. A person’s virtue and religion can never resolve this issue of blind and senseless hatred for others who are different.
If anyone can think of any other ideas I can add on to what I already have down so far answering this question: "What is your opinion on the rising number of hate groups in the U.S.? Should there be concern?" please help me out by sharing them with me. Thank you very much.
