I suffer from depression, and have attempted suicide twice in the past (I'm 17). I used to be incredibly embarrassed about my issues, but I've finally realised that I have nothing to be ashamed of. The issue is the way other people react to it. Only my close family and two of my friends know. I feel as though most people wouldn't attempt to understand, but would just make a judgement of "crazy" or "unstable" immediately, and that would be the first thing they thought of when they thought of me.
So, my question - if somebody (a friend, or a boy/girl you were dating or were interested in) told you they had depression, had attempted suicide, or had any other mental health issue, how would you react? If you didn't know them too well yet, would it make you want to distance yourself from them?
