My favourite horror is Braindead--- it's really gorish and has so many zombies in it and gross stuff but is also funny!

What about yours?

I thought Braindead was funny :p

A Nightmare on Elm Street was probably the scariest film i've seen. I was young at the time and really pood myself. :D

The old frankenstein films with boris karloff, haven't seen one in years but when I was 12 they scared me witless, I couldn't sleep after watching them but every week one was on I just had to watch it. Same with some of the old dracula films.

This topic has been done to death on here but hey ho, always interesting...

I don't particularly like horror comedies - crossovers rarely work for me. A couple of notable exceptions being 'An American Werewolf in London' and 'Rosemary's Baby'.

But for classic horror...

Halloween
Original Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Jaws
Dont Look Now
Session 9
Blair Witch Project/Last Broadcast
Carnival of Souls (original)
Invaison of the Body Snatchers (original and 1978 remake)
Ringu
Saw (first one only)
Black Christmas (original)
Southern Comfort
1st part of the original Salem's Lot mini series
Blue Velvet
Silence of the Lambs
The Haunting (original)

thats for starters...

The Thing. Tense and nerve wracking and the way the paranoia builRAB up in the film is unrivalled. Another John Carpenter movie as Halloween is. His early movies kicked butt.

Nightbreed is very underrated! I have always liked that film.

A very old film worth checking out is Freaks. It was made in the 1930s. It was banned in quite a few countries at the time as the film had some actual "circus freaks" in it - sorry to use such a term!

There is an incredible scene in the film where the Freaks undercover of darkness & during a storm all edge towarRAB........ I will not give too much away :) I watched the film the other week on one of the free Sky Movie channels. That particular scene still packs a punch.

You can see a picture of some of the cast at this link:

Peter Jackson's debut, Bad Taste, is better than Braindead.

My favourites :

Evil Dead 1 + 2
Bad Taste
Fright Night
Night Of The Living Dead
Dawn Of The Dead
Nightmare On Elm Street 3

LoaRAB of my faves right here :D
Black Christmas is a classic, the remake should be out soon.
Session 9, very under rated, love David Caruso :o
I can watch Jaws/Halloween over and over, and the bit in Salems Lot when the kid sits up in the coffin still freaks me out.

Easily Halloween, Michael Myers defiitely one of the scariest characters I've ever seen...Even in the new Halloween films like Ressurection, his presence alone does it for me.

For me there's only two types of horror film - those that are amazing, and those that are total crap. To name a quick few off the top of my head from the 'amazing' list:

The Exorcist (a classic, although not particularly scary by today's standarRAB)
Alien & Aliens
Saw
Silence of the Lambs
Halloween
The Others
The Ring/Ringu
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Signs
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Friday 13th

...there are hundreRAB of others, might list more later.
