I wonder what kind of battery time you guys get on your E61? Here are my stats:

Wifi - on (GSM only)
Bluetooth - on
Music - no
Conversation - 1 hour a day
EDGE - light web browsing

Need to recharge every day, sucks.....

For the life of me i'll never understand why people have an issue charging the phone over night. I have many wallchargers and a car charger so I rarely worry about battery life unless i'm using my 8801. My E61 showed tremendous battery life and I used way more than 60 minutes a day talking. I also used wifi and edge extensively and found the battery to be quite good. It's the same battery my 770 IT had and that thing didnt need to be charged for many days. Something people dont take into consideration is signal strength. If your frequently going into areas with low or no signal your phone will work harder and in turn drain quicker. It's a toss up. Somedays my 8801 can be bearable and others almost unusable. It always depends on where i'm going I guess.

May I ask why you keep wi-fi on? That's a HUGE drain on your battery. I get at least 2 days with moderate-heavy use on my e61. Battery life is one of the best things about it.

One of many, dare I say...

afaik wi-fi is only activated when you select it as a connection source. Unlike the N80ie and future models that have the wifi scanner on the active display, previous models dont have an active wifi connection....at least I dont remember a setting for wifi on or off.

Good point. Since he said "(GSM only)", maybe he meant 3G....
If that's the case, then I guess bluetooth may be to blame, or his battery is bad. The e61 is kicka** on battery life, so I'm stumped.

If he meant wifi "on" because he is surfing the web then I can understand...I dont think he meant 3G either because i'm assuming he's in the states.

I get 90% of an average day... little bluetooth use, occasional wifi use, lots of calls/texts/emails/EDGE browsing

Its not that big of a deal until you're traveling and using the phone as a bluetooth modem, bluetooth GPS, w/ a bluetooth headset (when driving, etc), calls, texts, emails, as usual and you're going from place to place hoping you'll be near an outlet... (a few specific examples I'm thinking of here). I love having 1 device doing pretty much everything but I find myself (when not in my normal routine @ home, class, work, etc) having to plug it in every chance I can otherwise it'll unexpectedly die.... with little to no warning

I can get around 2.5 days of usage, with heavier WiFi and EDGE usage than the OP, and an hour or two of calls...

Unlike the previous Series 60 phones, this new generation has great battery life

Thanks everyone for the response and to answer some questions - of course I plug in every night, I have a desktop charger and I charge in my car. No 3G (USA baby).... Another thought - if the phone cannot hold more then 12-18 hours of normal usage and we HAVE to recharge then why even bother with listing battery life?

hillstrubl hit it on the bull - it is not a problem when you are on the home turf, but one day you travel and DO NOT take your mobile lab with you I are screwed.

On my recent trip to Vegas (Bachelor Party!!!!) due to my infinite excitement I left the chargers (all 3) at home and simply thought to my self - I am going to do some heavy parting, no web, wifi, BT- just some calling to get a hold of my drunk friends on our way to S...clubs. Well I did run out of battery on within 24 hours and had to use concierge service at Paris Paris to get my phone recharged while I was playing No Limit Hold'em (not a bad deal after all)

I guess my question has two parts
1. when Nokia going to fix the battery indicator.
2. why damn E61 drains my battery.......LOL

Dude, if you ran out of battery in 24 hours with just some light calling, then you have a bad battery. I normally get 2 days out of mine with pretty heavy texting, internet useage (both over EDGE and WiFi, though mostly EDGE), and BT tethering occasionally. I was sick over the weekend, so barely used my phone for anything... from Saturday morning when I took it off the charger, until now (still off the charger) I've used it maybe 5 times for 1 to 2 minute phone calls... and it's still got half a charge left.

The Pop-tart comparison is probably the best standard feature.

When people ask me what kind of phone I have for whatever reason, I just tell them it's a big silver poptart.

In all honesty, my battery life is absolutely ridiculous. I usually recharge every 2 or 3 days just to be safe. I've gotten 4+ days with heavy WiFi and EDGE browsing, 20 or 30 texts, and probably an hour and a half of talk time. It's an absolute beast and the only phone that I don't think I'll ever sell.

what???? 2-3 days? I wonder what is it I run that drains my battery - the only other service I didn't mention is Blackberry - can it be the reason? Over the weekend I'll try to turn it off, Lets what will happened

My E61 also gets good battery life... several days on moderate usage with Wifi turned on. The E61 does in fact have an option to scan constantly for wireless hotposts in the background by default, without having to open a web session first to connect.

I have bluetooth on all the time (I use it a lot in the car), I probably use the phone for 30 minutes a day, I am running Blackberry Connect for my home e mail, RoadSync for my corporate e mail (it seems to be a bit of a power hog), I use WiFi for surfing about 45 minutes a day. I almost always get through a full day. If I am out of town and not using Bluetooth I get 2+ days. However, if I read an e book on a plane it sucks throught the battery in 2 to 3 hours.

My old Motorola V551 with bluetooth active would never get me through a full day.

how many of you (specifically the ones with sh*tty battery life) use BB connect?
I assume that a constantly on data connection prob has a great deal to do with it.

of course! Blackberry requires a constant edge/gprs connection and that's the root of your battery issue. Getting through 24 hours with a constant edge connection and various texts and phone calls is a testament to the E61s battery. My bbpearl needs charging twice a day. I probably send/receive over 100 emails a day through 3 email accounts and use my cell for all calls throughout the day.
