What is wrong with the heater in my 95 buick lesabre?

The air conditioner works and the heater just blows cold air. Someone told me that maybe the thermostat wasn't working and maybe it needed changed. Then someone else told me to just take the thermostat out and the heat would work but not when i am sitting still. I need to know what to do. Also, my drivers side window won't roll up. It is an automatic window and i rolled it down one day and that is where it stayed. It is all the way down in the door and i wanted to know is there any way to get it at least closed till i can get it fixed?
 
taking the thermostat outwould lower the engine temperature and give you less heat. install a new on they're real cheap. there is a coolant flow valve on most cars with ac.it bypasses the flow of coolant to the heater when the ac is on. its located in heater hose near the firewall. usually controlled by a vacuum line. but has a little lever that can moved with your fingers and tied with a piece of wire to hold it open. as for the window prob. you'll have to open the door up to fix that. and i don't think i could explain that whole thing here.
 
First, just change the thermostat, that is most likely your problem, and no the heater will not work if you simply remove the thermostat, you must replace it.

Ok now for the window, no guarantees on this one but it has worked for me in the past. With the ignition on, finger on the window button pushing up, slam the door or have someone slam the door while you are pushing up on the button. This sometimes "jars" the window motor and will make it work momentarily. If this don't work, you may have a broken wire, most likely in the rubber boot between the front of the door and the body of the car. In order to check this cut the rubber boot open, yes i said cut it open. Then pull the wires until you find the broken one and using a wire crimp splice repair the broken wire. This kind of a pain in the rear to do but you can do it yourself. and don't be afraid but you will most likely find more than one wire that is bad...just fix them and be done with it.

change the thermostat and you should have heat as for the window tap on motor and it should go up
