i bought it from a buy who had let the gas carmelize inside the tank.... i cleaned out the carbs and i have a problem it wont idle.. only runs with the choke on... it also has some difficulty starting... i took off the gas tank and it will start and run with the gas in the line but has a harder time starting with the gas tank on

Take it to Suzuki bro...I know it sounds like a bad idea but it sounds like the gunk build up is a lot worse than the previous owner may have mentioned. It may be time for a new tank...whatever you do...don't keep running it with the tank on because if its contaminated you will be doing nothing more than fouling up the system.

You have varnish (gelled gas) in the idle circuits of your carbs. Remove the idle screws, and clean the tips and passages with carb cleaner. Other things to check are the petcock strainer and the gas cap vent. Your carbs also have pilot jets that augment the idle circuit flow until there is enough airflow to activate the main circuit. These pilot jets have holes that a grain of sand could plug. Remove these and soak in carb cleaner for an hour. Make sure they're clear by pushing a fine wire through them. Good luck.
