what is wrong with my Motorola Razr V3?

it won't charge correctly. it died, and when i plugged it into the wall outlet, it turned on. but then it turned off seconds later, and it keeps trying to turn on but it seems struggling. the lights are humming, as is the phone, and if it turns on corrrectly, it won't charge. as soon as i take it off the charger, it dies completely. help me!
