what is wrong with my 1994 chevy blazer?

I have a 1994 chevy blazer the wired things my car is doing is when i press the gas it doesnt catch it until couple seconds later it seems to tell me every other time service engine check then if you go past 50mph it starts over heatin what is wrong with my car someone plz help...
