Over the past few weeks, my car has been hesitating to start. There was no loss of power once on and since Oklahoma has had a pretty harsh winter, I thought that was affecting the battery, but nothing major. Tonight, though, it started, but when I got to where I was going, I turned the car off and took the key out, but it was still on? Nervous, I started it back up and went back home. On the way, I noticed the E-brake light was on, but I had not depressed the e-brake. Once home, I turned the car off, again, and it was still on. I started it back up and turned it off again...it putted out and was smoking a lot! Smelled terrible! I raised the hood to see what was smoking and from what I saw (under the hood, in the manual, and online) I think it's the distributor. Is that right? What's with the staying on after I turned it off?
