what is wrong with my 02 Ford Ka headlights?

I turned on my headlights (dipped beams) this evening and approx 1 second later they both switched off. I'm able to get side lights and full beam, is this likely to be both bulbs going at same time, though it does seems quite unlikely or the switch breaking? I have checked the fuses and they appear to be fine
 
Here's your problem: ITS A FORD.

No, but seriously check the circuit to the bulbs, check fuses and wires, wiggle the bulbs a l;ittle see if that fixes it.
