What is wrong with me-why am I so oddly effected by media?

When I read a book/watch a movie/hear on the radio that someone does something crazy I have obsessive thoughts of myself doing the crazy thing, or something similar to it.

For example-I read a book (I think it was on by Sedaris) where a guy constantly touches the light switch, and I started to think about it, and eventually ended up thinking about licking electrical sockets. I couldn't get my mind off of it for sooo long.
Now that thought is gone, but weird things like that happen to me often.

Please help me!

It sounds like a variation of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Your mind can't let go of stuff you rather not think about and it gets disturbing. Focus on letting the thoughts go even if you feel like you have to hold on to them, its tough but it will get easier.

If it is O.C.D its possible to overcome it (depending on severity) because Disorders sometimes Develop due to emotional stress and can either be perpetuated or dealt with, not that Im saying completely getting rid of a physiological disorder is easy.

i've thought about the same. i'm not sure why this happens, but as humans we are curious, so we may have an urge to imitate something or sum1 dependng on how affected we are by it.

What we read is our mind, what we listen is our mind,We are an empty shell and there is constant input and output. This constant movement is our kinetic energy.Be careful with input.
