What is up with John Madden Football?

I think they're moving away from the Madden/Michaels era. Some people complain that he's annoying. Personally, I like the BOOM!
 
The "next-gen" Madden EA made is a joke. There's nothing authentic about it. You feel like you're playing the game on some generic EA network with no commentary or anything. The gameplay isn't fun at all. The players look horrible. The camera panning around the stadiums is choppy and pointless.

Goddamn I miss the ESPN NFL 2K series of games....
 
the liscensing costs of madden and michaels are astronomical. theyre trying to get away from using them because they have the monopoly on the market now. i expect it to be only called ea sports nfl football soon
 
I'm sorry my expectations are as high as what NFL 2K5 was. Madden on 360/PS3 doesn't even come close to what that game accomplished....

Pre-game analysis
Half time show with Berman showing actual gameplay footage from other games
Post game interview with the player of the game
Actual ESPN presentation across the board

And even on the XBox it was beautiful. Madden '07 on 360/PS3 just looks so generic compared to what 2K5 was....
 
the stadiums and fans look great, the players look great (body builder arms aside), but how it's slightly choppy when switching cameras sucks, and having no halftime anything sucks (hell, they at least had a shitty cheerleading thing a few years back) and having nothing postgame sucks. the announcing is pretty gay, since it just sounds like it's someone in your coordinators booth talking. the training drills suck (passing and running drills are fine, but the bench press and 40 yd dash are retarded). i do like the menu system better in this one than before though.
 
I agree. ESPN NFL 2k5 was easily the BEST football game EVER.
Their use of the ESPN license plus the game play was amazing.


By the way that EA has used the ESPN license, plus the cost of their games, plus the lack of developments made each year....it is CLEAR that all they intended to do with ESPN license, and NFL license was put 2k out of the market.

I can't wait till their license ends.
