95 Dodge Intrepid 3.3 liter engine coil pack wire connector has a short. There are four wires Black, White, Red, and Orange striped with Green, coming out of the coil pack. Three of these (red, black, white) go into the harness. The fourth (Orange/Green) goes into a chunk of plastic (looks like fuseable link) and two wires come out the other end of the plastic. Those 2 wires are the Orange and Green and a Black one. After disassembling (cutting it carefully apart) I find a black box (resistor?) with with two metal ends. One end is spliced into the O/G, the other is connected to the black wire.
What I know
There is a short
The O/G is the auto shutdown wire
The last black wire has continuity to the O/G wire only if battery is hooked up.
The "black box" is faulty
Car won't start without it
WHAT I NEED TO KNOW
What is this "black box" or
Where can I buy another (besides junkyard can't find another)?
Can I bypass it?
Is this the right Category?
Do I need to know anything else?
