language..."ginned-up" or "jinned up"? I hear it all the time now. Here's a sample sentence: "The crowd was all 'ginned up'." Another with a slightly different meaning: "The report contained a lot of false data and 'ginned up' a vociferous protest using errant conclusions." I take its sense to mean: 'riled up, agitated' or 'rabble rousing without malice by energetic misdirection'. I think it derives from either the word 'engine' or the word 'jinn' as in a genie...perhaps, some reference to inebriation on beverage 'Gin'...otherwise I have no clue... ??? Will someone clue me in?
