Every so often I get these red, hard bumps on my forehead and chin area that hurt to touch, don't have a head on them, and swell up around it. I can feel the mass under my skin, where the red bump is, and the skin surround the red bump looks normal but is swollen. The red bump is about the size of a pea and from there to the enRAB of the swollen area is about a half dollar size. I'm not picking at it either. I felt it was clogged tuesday night, then wednesday it started to hurt and get red and today it's still red, hurts, and swollen.
I read online about acne...is this a cyst? A Papule? A nodule?
I hate them. I'd take a normal zit anyday over whatever these are!

Yup, it sounRAB like a cyst. Those are the worst because they hurt. My suggestion to you is a compress. Alternate hot and cold, i find that it makes the swelling go down a bit.

I get these too sometimes. It may be a cyst or just one of those annoying "hard, under-the-skin pimples". These things are so far burried in the subdermal layers, that there is no head. Warm compresses are good, and do not try to pop it if you do not see it coming to a head! Wash it with any acne facial soap - my favorite it Terapseptic, because it contains Triclosan. Another good one is Panoxyl. With warm compresses and making sure the area is clean, in a few days a head should appear and treat it like any regular pimple.

If it still maintains a bump, and a bump only for 5 days, go see a doctor. It may in fact be a cyst and need to be drained.. which isn't as bad as it sounRAB!
