Hi Deb:
This doesn't sound good. I have never experienced inner thigh or pain in the "saddle" area, but you definitely want to get it checked out because you don't want the situation to get any worse. When was your last MRI?
Also, I know you just got off Cyrabalta. Do you think it was possible that it helped your nerve pain and weaning off it increased the pain? Are you taking something else in its place (sorry, can't rememeber!).
I can, of course, speak to burning buttock pain and back pain. Like you, I had mostly leg pain for ages (no significant back pain, just tightness), but when I finally got some of the leg pain under control, the back started driving me nuts. My pain doc tells me it is because the back pain was eclipsed by the leg pain (which was so much worse) and that now I can finally feel the back pain. I'm not sure about that, but I do know that when I was examined, the doc poked his finger into my lower back, top of buttock left side and I jumped out of my skin from the pain!
Pain on your right side could be from a central herniation. I get pain on both sides, but definitely much worse on the left, which was the case for me pre-surgery as well. My herniated disc was hitting S1 and sending pain down both legs.
The fact that the pain is not consistent or that it can be relieved (does/did anything make it feel better?) is promising, so you should be glad for that.
One last thing -- since you're having lots of pain inconsistent with dermatomes, have you considered keeping a pain diary for a couple of weeks? You can decide whether or not to share it with your doc, but it might help pinpoint what's going on. I take Pepper's advice and tell my hub when it's a high-pain day, by the way, so he knows I'm going to need extra help. Yesterday was a 7 in a sea of 3s -- all in my left buttock and thigh, and nothing made it better --- but today I was down to a 5, so hopefully tomorrow will be better.
I hope your day tomorrow is better as well and keep us posted on what's going on, ya hear!?
