could you please explain in detail (lay men's terms please) what the whole debate is about starting from the beginning. why is health care reform even necessary? what major proposals have been passed and why aren't they being passed? what are the major problems with the current health care system? what is the current health care system?
thanks!

Obama is genuinely concerned about millions of people who simply can't afford the high cost of medical insurance for them and their family so he is trying to put all under one umbrella. The problem is that he doesn't know from where the money will come to fund the program. There is a very strong lobby from the medical field that fears government interference, waste, and mismanagement of the system itself. In short those who are covered feel that they will end up getting inferior medical service and with the backlog of medical recipients, people will have to wait too long for their turn like in other countries. People will be required to go through a series of preventive care before being considered for surgeries and other choices they so quickly make under current heath care providers. We have one of the best medical care system in the world and seems to work great. The medical bill if passed will change the system for worst some people are afraid about and rightfully so one may add. In short great for the president and the democratic party if the succeed but not so good for many others who will be affected adversely.

Obama is trying to give a free ride. Sadly there is no such thing as a free ride, someone has to pay for free health care. That someone is the tax payer. Obama health care means taxes would sky rocket. Also of you give a free ride then why would people work to improve their standard of life?
In the past four years, I have lost my house, a truck and had to file bankruptcy. All because of an injury and lack of insurance, and I'm still against socialized health care.
I you want something, YOU have to work for it.
