What is the voltage adjustment on a capacitor used for?

Hi I have a 8 farad capacitor hooked between my battery and a 1000 watt amp and i was wondering if i needed the voltage adjustment at a certain level. It goes from about 12.5 volts to about 15 volts. Would having the voltage up help it from sucking as much power from the battery? Or can it ruin the amp having it up too high? thank you
The capacitor actually has a screw on top of it marked voltage adjust, which when turned back and forth the voltage reading on the cap. screen go up and down from about 12.5 to 15
 
It's telling you what your vehicles running at. I don't know how you hit 15 volts with a 14 volt car battery. If it does adjust keep it at 14, basically it's what it's suppose to be at.
