What is the United Nations good for?

It seems like the United Nations doesn't really do anything but sit around and vote to pass resolutions. They didn't do anything to help Rwanda, when 800,000 people were killed. They had peace keeping troops there, but as soon as some of them were killed, they chickened out and ran away. What are they doing to help the thousands of people that are being killed in Darfur? What are they doing to help the people that are starving in Zimbabwe because of their crazy president? Why should we pay taxes to support them?

They are good for writing letters to violating nations telling them how angry the UN is.

The UN is good for starting wars, creating anger, introducing conflict, ignoring poverty, killing serial killers, disrupting daily work and stealing worldwide glory

They help facilitate nations communicating with each other, which we need to do more of.

Spending US Money.

And, Occupying a BIG Chunk of Prime Real Estate For No Good Reason.

Also, Imposing The 'Guilt Thing'.

Even when they pass resolutions like in Iraq, it is up to others to get them enforced. They are good at giving minor powers a place to blow off steam rather then jumping into a war and at making a joke out of human rights. They seem a good venue to get humanitarian aid to places where needed but it is basically a failed and out of date institution.
