For the life of me, I can't remember very much of this book at all... I read it well over 10 years ago, but it's been plaguing me for quite some time now.

It's a historical romance novel, and I THINK the hero is a highwayman, or of the sort. The heroine is, of course, a woman of wealth and he has taken a liking to her small feet, and gives her a pair of slippers. Near the end of the book, she's kidnapped and he believes she has left him. However, he spies one of her slippers in the mud and realizes that his enemies have kidnapped her. When he catches up to them, he mentions something along the lines of "you better not have soiled her feet. I happen to be very fond of them" or something like that.

I can't remember any names, situations, the author, or any other situations. Except, PERHAPS, the hero himself kidnapped her first...? I really can't recall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! :)
