The plot as I can remember it:
Alien crashes on earth. Some sort of policeman, is chasing a criminal.
The species needs hosts, has a kind of symbiotic relationship with them.
So this alien, comes on land, finds a boy.
Boy goes to boarding school, at some point during the alien makes contact. (Involving alien making words appear in front of his eyes)
Boy is sent back home to the island he lives on, we have plot about trying to find the criminal.
Turns out the criminal is in the boy's father, and some plan involving burning down a building ends the story.
Any ideas?
