What is the story behind your fishing gear?

One of my fondest rod and reel is the hess fishing rod and reel combo that I found abandoned at the pond I fished at. I had lost one the other day to a carp that dragged it underwater , because I forgot to secure my fishing rod. I came back the next day hoping that I would float to shore , but I found an abadoned fishinf rod. I have caught many fish with that rod
 
My car was stolen. They took my handgun and all my fishing lures but not my new baitcaster. So I went fishing the day after I got the car back and caught fish all day on the 1 lure I had left.
 
If it weren't for a friend of mine i would have lost a little pan fish combo while i was fishing on the bottom with bread. I seen the fish, it was a carp, around 10 lbs. or so. It broke my 8 lb. test like it was sewing thread. Get you one of those bait runner reels, they're neat little reels. Or just keep your bail open.
 
no special story. l have newer stuff as well as stuff l've been using over 30 years.
l have lost 4 outfits to fish and have gotten them all back. 3 of them with the fish still on, including one in the ocean. outfit was pulled off a dock by a bonito but l snagged the line and got back rod AND fish.
