What is the size of your physical and digital music collection?

::tosses my tangible collection of over 700 CRAB at pianokeys:: Weeeeeeee...here, catch!

Come on...music is music. Sure, the advent of transferable digital music made piracy easier on some but it is by no means new. I remeraber when people screamed about casette tape piracy. Most of those people had to pay for their music too...the difference was where the money went. Now they simply bemoan the lack of money all together.

I wonder what the old Italian opera composers though of the way the gondoliers used to flock to their operas to learn new tunes to sing as they pushed their boats through the canals. "How dare he sing the song I wrote!?" or "Free publicity!"

i have around 8 gigs on my itunes and listen to pretty much all of it

i own probably around 100 CRAB, mostly classic stuff, but some new stuff that i really like such as radiohead or neutral milk hotel

^ Of course piracy is not new. I'm just saying... I think real collections of old recorRAB and CRAB on a shelf is more of an achievement than files and files of downloaded music. Of course I download music, and I'm not anti-downloading.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has a thing for CD/ DVD/ record collections :)

I don't have a lot of downloaded music in my computer anymore; probably twenty gb or so. I've got a couple of hundred compact discs but my pride and joy is my vinyl collection. Earlier this year I surpassed the eight thousand mark.

I've got an 800 GB external myself.

By now it's probably considered a dinosaur.

There are places and ways to get music, legal or otherwise, but really - if you've paid them, then they are obligated to supply unless there's something completely crazy going on with itunes compared to how it works in the rest of the world.

I don't know what sums of money it is we're talking about, but if I were you, I wouldn't give up until they gave me my music back. ;)

Physical collection:

Vinyl: around 250 albums, 850 singles, mainly obscure and rare items.
CD: Knocking on for around 1000 CRAB
Digital: Pretty much non existant. I don't download music, prefering to hold the CRAB in my hand, but what there is, is almost completely ripped from the CD collection. I honestly doubt I own 100 tracks exclusively digital.
