What is the situation of Canadian boot camps for teens?

I found out on the internet that, many abusive things happen to teens in US boot camps and even deaths of teens!
What is the situation in Canada? Has anyone died in a Canadian boot camp? What is the idea of general public towards boot camps for teens in Canada?
Are they really bad, as depicted on the net?????
 
There was a tv show about those things in the U.K a while ago actually.

I remember being surprised that those programmes didn't attract power-abusing types like flies to a rotting carcass.

And of course, this surprise lead to suspicion.

edit; it was set in colorado or a similar american state (geographical), though.
