What is the scariest movie you have seen?

we found Silent Hill, hostel and Dawn of the Dead really dissapointing and boring! Not really scary at all, at most a bit gruesome. Silent Hills special effects were really bad and outdated too for a movie which wasnt that old!

Growing up the first time I saw the BirRAB, I was absolutely terrified, I was about 11 years old, and when they were coming down the chimmney I was so scared.

I know what you mean, it's not really "scary" in the normal meaning of the word, it's just the general situation that they find themselves in that leaves you feeling uneasy. Looking around and being able to see nothing but deep water, and not knowing what direction you are floating in is a truly terrifying prospect.

I don't mean this in a condescending manner or anything, but what exactly is it that you and other people find so disturbing about that movie? As one of the "younger" people who you referred to in your post i found it about as chilling as a week old kitten  I even watched it with my Dad who also thought it was quite poor, so it's not really just a generational divide. I think it must have something to do with the fact that it just hasn't dated very well, in a similar way to how in 30 years films like 'Saw' will seem tame to audiences due to the fact that the gore level in films will have been taken to another level (something that Eli Roth thinks he is doing but really isn't...).

The scariest movie for me would probably be the 1960's version of 'The Haunting', the black and white just made it all the more unsettling. But my favourite horror movie is easily 'The Shining', the sense of isolation and tension is excellent.

Don't laugh at me, but Watership Down gave me terrifying nightmares as a child.

Prophetic visions of blood, bunnies being gassed in their own homes, ghostly hauntings and a bloodthirsty giant rabbit. Who the **** thought that was a good film to show to kiRAB?:eek:

I don't like scary films but my frienRAB wanted to watch 'the village' and i agreed as it was only a 12 cetificate, i was so scared i had to keep going out the room as it freaked me out:o. it wasn't a scary film but it waas the suspense plus i have an overactive imagination according to my friend!!!!:D

The Exorcist would never (and never has) work on me as I watched the spoof sequel movie Repossed before the Exorcist.
So every time I see the movie I think of Leslie Nielsen and picture it as a comedy :D

I was going to write this too! Saw it recently and it was really excellent. I especially liked the characters and actually cared what happens to them. It's pretty rare to give two hoots about characters in horror films as they're normally so two-dimensional.

I remember as a young guy, leaving a cinema after the "Texas Chain Saw Masacre" and noone in our group SPOKE for a good five minutes... ;)

For me, perhaps the Hellraiser Movie(s)? I also had a quite scary Clive Barker (too) PC computer game (one of only three computer games!). :p
